Pakistan has inducted Chinese HQ-7B Short Range Air-defense system (Pakistani FM-90) to counter aerial targets including cruise missiles.
The Pakistani army conducted a test firing of the cruise missile on Monday witnessed by the chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif, ISPR (Inter service public relations) reported in an official statement.
“All weather, surface-to-air missile FM-90, with a capability to engage aerial target including cruise missiles, drones and air-to-surface guided missiles can operate under adverse electronic counter measures (ECM) environments.
The weapon is produced by China’s National Precision Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CPMIEC).
The system was unveiled earlier this year during the national military parade. The HQ-7B is a improved version of the HQ-7 (FM-80), itself, a Chinese copy of the French Crotale surface-to-air missile.
