Egypt has taken delivery of first batch of Russian-made S-300 air defense system, according to a picture posted on Russian social media site vk.com.
The picture posted on Tuesday shows the unloading of a container carrying the missile from a ship. The location however is not known.
The S-300 is a long range surface-to-air missile – manufactured by the Russian firm Almaz – designed to intercept aircraft and cruise missiles, and its most advanced models can also target ballistic missiles. The system is able to engage ballistic and aerodynamic targets within a range of up to 400 kilometers. The export version of the missile system is called Antey 2500.
