Russian Armed Forces have received sixty Kalibr cruise missiles along with an Iskander-M missile system brigade set in May-June this year, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday.
The army has also taken delivery of 11 jets and six helicopters, nine radar systems, Steregushchy-class Sovershennyy corvette, two inshore patrol vessels, as well as a heavy offshore platform for a Borey-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, Sputnik reported.
“As for today, the state defense order for modern weapons has been implemented by 34.2 percent, while [state order] for repairs — by 42.2 percent, and it indicates a satisfactory rate of production of defense industry enterprises,” Shoigu was quoted as saying on single military production acceptance day.
Russian cruise missile Kalibr was first used in combat by the Russian Caspian Flotilla against Daesh targets in Syria in November 2015.
Benefitting from vector-thrust nozzles on the ship-launched versions, the active-radar homing Kalibr missiles are designed to perform evasive maneuvers instead of making a straight-line approach with the cruising speed of Mach 0.8 to Mach 3, and descend to just 4.6 meters in altitudes.
