Ukroboronprom has modernized tens of BRDM-2 armored reconnaissance patrol vehicles for Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The armored vehicles received modern digital radio systems manufactured by one of the NATO countries and other new equipment. In addition, the upgraded BRDM-2 has a more energetic arrangement of hatches for landing the crew, which simplifies the operation of machinery, the company said in a statement Wednesday.
During the work, specialists of the plant carried out a series of measures for the restoration of armored vehicles, which replaces all units and units that do not meet the specified technical characteristics, as well as install new equipment. After that, the vehicles undergo a comprehensive check of all systems during several stages of testing in the presence of the military themselves.
The State Enterprise “Mykolaiv Armored Vehicles Plant” also regularly carries out planned repairs and modernization of other armored vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: BTR-70 equipped with diesel engines and BTR-80.
In addition, the company has developed a number of modifications of armored vehicles, for example, the command-staff car BTR-70Di-02 “Svityaz”, which was created within the framework of the construction of the Unified Automated Control System of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is located in the armed forces of the Ukrainian Army.
BTR-70Di-02 Svityaz is equipped with state-of-the-art digital communication and information processing equipment, providing effective control of troops even in conditions of powerful electronic counteraction of the enemy. Currently, it is developing its own new armored reconnaissance patrol vehicle.
