Turkish Aerospace unveiled the first locally assembled T-70 Black Hawk helicopter built under the $3.5 billion Turkish Utility Helicopter Program (TUHP), on November 25.
Sikorsky teamed up with Turkish aerospace industry (TAI) to produce 109 T-70 utility helicopters based on multi-role Black Hawks in June 2016. The deadline for the delivery of the aircraft for Turkey’s Land Forces, Air Force, Gendarme, Special Forces, National Police, and the Directorate General of Forestry, was set for 10 years.
“Within the scope of our TUHP, the first of the 109 T-70 Helicopters that will be produced in total, was removed from the hangar. I would like to congratulate our main contractor TAI and subcontractors ASELSAN, TEI, Alp Aviation and Sikorsky and wish them continued success,” Ismail Demir, President of Turkish Defense Industry, said in a Twitter post.
